Our Island

A Bit About Colonsay…

If it’s an altogether slower pace of life you crave, surrounded by the most amazing flora and fauna and diverse sea bird life, Colonsay is the place for you. It sits within Scotland’s Inner Hebrides group of islands, to the south lies Islay and Jura and to the north Mull. It is accessible by boat, a two-and-a-half hour journey from Oban on the mainland.

The island’s 120 strong population shares it surroundings with seals, otters, corncrakes, a variety of sea birds and a multitude of indigenous wildflowers.

We believe that, logistical and economical challenges aside, Colonsay creates the perfect environment for brewing beer. With a plentiful supply of Hebridean water, pure Atlantic sea air and our brewer Chris Nisbet’s guiding hand, our single strain yeast gets to work slowly but steadily on our prized beers
